Work, and Baby News

So what a day at work. David and I have known we were moving in August for a long time, and have kept our bosses in the know regarding our plans as they were finalized. A couple of weeks ago, we finally knew when we were going to have our moving truck, and decided when our last day of work should be. We okayed everything with one of the owners, the wife of the couple, meaning we'd given them three week notice, ample time for most businesses. Today the other owner, the husband, calls in, upset that he didn't know we were leaving so early. He thinks we need two weeks of training for the new hirees, and now feels like he has to hire new managers in a couple of days and start training this week. I personally think the training for this job could be completed in three days, tops, but that's not my job. Anyway, I'm feeling defensive because we've tried to be extremely open with our employers about everything we've known about our move, and gave three weeks notice for them to review resumes and interview. I didn't know until this morning that while they've had resumes coming in for almost a month, they haven't even looked at them to start interviews until today! Anyway, I know I sound pretty vehement, so I'll just add the caveat that I'll get over it and feel better in a little while and that our bosses are sensible people and we'll be able to work something out.

On a better note, we have an item of note for everyone who hasn't heard yet . . . I'm pregnant, and our baby is due on December 25th!! We don't know yet what gender it will be, as we're moving about the same time I'd have an ultrasound to find out, so we don't know when we'll find out. For now, we're satisfied with the knowledge that it has to be a boy or a girl. We welcome bets, guesses, and name suggestions, although we reserve the right to be the parents and pick whatever names we like for the baby. :)

Some have voiced their concerns that the child won't get their own birthday if they're born on Christmas, but I'd like to reassure everyone that we'll figure out a way for the baby to have their own birthday celebration. I'm not too concerned, because we'll have a couple of years before the baby is old enough to understand the importance of birthday celebrations. Plus, for the first few years of his/her life, at least, every day is baby's special day because when you're under two, the world obviously revolves around you.

David and I would also like to re-issue the invitation that anyone who would like to visit us is welcome to. This includes siblings who want to do something special/exciting for summer break or other vacations. We're very excited about our new apartment, and really feel good about moving there. The landscaping is great, and the apartment community includes a great clubhouse, a raquetball court, and-- as seems mandatory in the Phoenix area -- a pool/sauna. If you're interested, we're moving to Terra Vida Apartments. Type in www.apartments.com/terravida and a page should pop up with a link to the apartment complex profile with community and floorplan pictures.
Well, we love and miss you all! Don't forget to keep in touch!
